I created a 90-second video to help win a $20,000 Big Lots grant for Hannalei Elementary School in Vista, California. They could get a Mobile Lab into their school if they win the grant. The idea is that it would give the school a cart of iPads that classrooms can check out for use. This way each student could hold and use a tablets rather than share 1 iPad per classroom, which is how they do it now. You can imagine how difficult (and nearly useless) it is to share one tablet per class!
Children need to be prepared for the future and clunky old Windows 98 computers are not going to do it. I have seen it with my own eyes how kids are instantly infatuated with tablets and and tapping and swiping comes as natural as breathing to them. Many of Hannalei’s students would never be able to afford a tablet on their own, so a tablet offered by the school may be the only time they get hands-on experience with it.
Sure, tablets may not be what we will be using in 20 years, but let’s give these Kids fighting chance!
The video features actual students from Hannalei Elementary and you can vote for it up to 3 times daily, per device. Your votes could help win this grant! Vote for it on Big Lots’ site. Look for Hannalei Elementary!
